Bartfeld Textiles Pty Ltd was incorporated in October 1988, by its current Directors Terri and Fred Bartfeld as an off shoot of Bartfeld Trading Company, a textile company started by Henry and Rachela Bartfeld in 1965.

The company's origins were in the two catagories of Fur Fabrics and Home Textiles, predominantly Damasks, Bed Sheeting and Ticking.

Bartfeld Trading Company operated out of a small premises in Victoria Street, North Melbourne, Victoria.

Bartfeld Textiles started trading from a warehouse in Moorabbin, Victoria and then moved to a larger showroom warehouse in Glenhuntly Road, Caulfield when the business concentrated on developing itself as a Fur Fabric Specialist.
